Mr. Bronze
A name fans love to whisper, but no heist in the series ever put a Bronze mask in the vault.
Mr. Bronze does not appear as a playable character, NPC, or named antagonist in any of the Payday: The Heist, Payday 2, or Payday 3 games, nor in their official DLC expansions. The name surfaces only in fan-made art, role-playing communities, and unofficial fan-fiction set in the Payday universe. As such, this entry documents the character strictly as a fan-community creation rather than a canon figure, and no official lore, stats, or story beats can be attributed to him by Overkill or 505 Games.

Lore & Background
The Payday franchise is built around a small, tightly written cast of masked criminals—Wolf, Hox, Dalton, Goner, Rusty, Chains, Tech, Boomer, the El Primos, and in Payday 3, Blake, Gail, and Gun. Every one of them has a defined backstory, a distinct mask, and a place in the narrative. Mr. Bronze occupies none of those slots. He is not a boss, not a side character, not a DLC unlock, and not a hidden easter-egg reference in any of the three mainline games or their expansions.
What does exist is a vibrant fan ecosystem: fan art on social media, custom character mods for Payday 2's workshop, and collaborative fiction threads where players invent a "fifth mask" or a rival crew. In those spaces, Mr. Bronze typically appears as a stoic, bronze-masked figure positioned as either a former crew member who vanished or a rival heist leader. None of these narratives carry any official weight, and Overkill has never acknowledged the name in patch notes, interviews, or promotional material.
Because the character is entirely community-generated, any "lore" attached to him is as varied as the individual fans who created it. There is no single canonical version, no fixed personality, and no established relationship to Wolf or any other canon character. This entry therefore refrains from presenting any fan narrative as fact and instead documents the character's existence as a cultural artifact of the Payday fandom.
In Their Own Story
The safe-room smelled of gun oil and stale coffee. Hox wiped a smudge off his mask and glanced at the whiteboard where the crew's plan was pinned in red marker. Four names. Four masks. Wolf, Hox, Dalton, Goner. The fourth slot was empty, the marker line still wet, as if someone had just erased a name and walked out. Goner leaned against the doorframe, jaw tight. "You think he's still out there?" Hox didn't answer. Outside, the city hummed, indifferent, and the bronze-colored rain tapped the window like a countdown no one had started.
Reader's Guide
Role and design: Because Mr. Bronze has no official game presence, there is no in-game role, no stat sheet, and no heist in which he appears. In fan art and custom mods he is most often depicted wearing a full-face bronze or brass-colored mask, echoing the metallic aesthetic of the Payday masks while shifting the palette away from the standard black-and-white or red schemes. Some fan renditions give him a heavy coat and a duffel bag, leaning into the "ghost of the crew" archetype.
Personality and voice: No voice lines exist. In fan-fiction and RP threads he is usually written as taciturn, loyal to a fault, and haunted by a heist gone wrong—traits borrowed from the emotional register of Wolf and Hox rather than any original source.
Heist appearances: None. He does not appear in any mission, set-piece, or cutscene in Payday: The Heist, Payday 2, Payday 3, or their DLC.
Community nicknames: In fan forums he is sometimes called "The Fifth Mask" or simply "Bronze." He occasionally shows up in Payday 2 workshop custom-character uploads, where players can swap his face onto a standard crew member model. None of these mods are official, and the character has never been referenced in an Overkill patch note, social-media post, or press interview.
Did You Know?
- The Payday franchise features a fixed roster of named, masked characters across all three mainline titles; no official character or NPC is named Mr. Bronze in any of them.
- Payday 2's Steam Workshop and custom-character mods allow players to create and share entirely original crew members, which is the most common context in which a 'Mr. Bronze' design appears.
- The franchise's closest canonical analogue to a mysterious masked figure is Mr. 4, a character introduced in Payday 2's 'Mr. 4' DLC, who is distinct from any 'Mr. Bronze' concept.
- Overkill Software has never referenced a character by the name Mr. Bronze in patch notes, developer blogs, or promotional material for any Payday title.
